This year I went to Naples, a city that has been long on my bucket lust. But to be honest, this city has only been on the list due to its good location that served me as a (cheap) base for exploring the surroundings. But what is there to explore? Let me tell you. :-)1. Pompeji & Vesuv
This might be the most prominent day trip from Naples, for a reason! The historic site of Pompeji is such a fascinating place and sooo worth a visit, especially if you had Latin in school. I couldn’t get enough of Pompeji and getting up the cone of the Vesuv was a highlight of my Italy trip! If you want to learn more about how to make the most of your daytrip to Pompeji then have a look at this article.
2. Amalfi Coast
Let’s be honest, it’s close to the limit to call the Amalfi Coast a daytrip from Naples. Sure, this place is beautiful, however, it takes some time to get to the Amalfi Coast from Naples (a good hour from Naples to Sorrento by train plus an hour by bus from Sorrento to Positano) which makes it hard to classify as a „good“ day trip from Naples. One of my main reasons for going here just for a day was, of course, my budget. While accomodation in Naples is relatively cheap (compared to the rest of Italy), staying at the Amalfi Coast would’ve blown my budget! But as you can imagine, a day is by far not enough to see all of the region!
This island has been on my bucket list for a looong time and to be honest, I haven’t been there yet. I planned on going for a day to Capri but when I saw the prices for the ferries I decided against the island and to come back for a fancy Capri holiday. However, if you don’t want to miss this island and to want to spend a fortune, then a daydrip from Naples is the perfect option!
Another beautiful island that is esay accessible from Naples. I haven’t been here, too, but when I come back I’ll check this colorful island out as well!
